God, Mikoto could have her own fully grown children who themselves are demon hunters by now if it's actually 2005... though the same was probably true a while ago. What's the minimum age to be a demon hunter, like 14? My fanfic-in-progress suggests the only limit is that you need a lot of determination and a guardian's signed consent form.

But honestly you're right, I don't think this series really sets its time in stone. Shin'yaku has Sui tell us she's a pro interweb surfer on her smartphone, which I feel is a very modern set of habits. But if it's considered the first entry with Shoku still the immediate sequel, then the demon-possessed guys on the beach who potentially had their way with Mikoto and recorded her tearful loss of virginity are all major retro-hardware enthusiasts since they all have mid-2000s camera phones.

Demon hunters don't seem to be widely known, since Takeru had to inform Sui that demons were in fact real.

So I would assume that gives them leeway to do things that would get a more public organization in legal hot water.

That is also a good point. I wonder how well known it actually is, given that according to Takeru, the idea that only virgins can see ghosts was a common misconception that was debunked years ago.

Then how about Mikoto's grandma, Makeru in the 80's? And maybe Kyoko's mom or aunt, and another of Momo's family for that trio.

I'm just picturing a cool ass Aojiru styled 1980's adventure.

Makes me think "what if Inyouchuu with an analog VHS filter?"

I think she has some version of what happened to Sui in the "Useless" route going on, where she's actually a human demon and that's why she can treat lesser demons as tame animals and disregard Nightmare's magic in the joke ending. Clearly she got incredibly corrupted at some point in the past, but is still sane because of her relentless positivity/naivety

seeing Sui turn into this demon that kills everyone was pretty crazy, and I love that even Imp can't stand against her at that point, pretty crazy twist haha. Like we can see the negative effect that the bullying and her own negative self esteem has had on her, and then it just shows how bad things could have potentially gotten for her to the point she goes out of control and more or less gets revenge on everyone including the ones that were using her to carry out their evil deeds. i think it was implied she already took care of nightmare before Imp right? crazy stuff. I like that the demons in Inyouchuu basically feed off of negative emotions, despair,lust, etc. and use that against people and amplify/weaponise it, its pretty sad but interesting(is this what later demons in the series do as well or just nightmare/imp specifically???), so its funny/ironic that they were so effective with using Sui that they created a being too corrupted/powerful and it ended up backfiring on them even if she did still kill all the students at the school. I'd like to think another part of why Sui became so powerful outside of that unstable mental state and her spiraling into despair/self loathing was because of her already innately strong spiritual powers, i can't recall if it was ever explained but does she come from a long line of shrine maidens or something? cause even with her personality she kinda feels like she could be some sort of shrine maiden character, at least she always gave those vibes to me.

also you finished all routes already? you sure read fast! I guess I tend to go through VNs pretty slowly, taking lots of breaks in between routes usually.

I did speed through the sexual content I wasn't as interested in, so that was a lot of time on the "Mikoto/Sui becomes porno slaves" routes saved

I agree that the strong spiritual power definitely contributed to Sui being so corruptible
