Congrats!

Aaand first day of the second back-to-back convention is down! This one was smaller, more local, and more personal, and I took on my first ever job of pinball tournament director.

Once again, somebody recognized it - one of the participants, in fact - and told me he loved my cosplay. I also didn't realize until the end that they wanted me to do the stage presentation announcing the pinball winners. So I hyped myself up for all of five minutes and got on the mic for a short presentation.

They didn't officially film it, so I had coveredLoki's sister record it on the phone, and I'll probably share it soon because there's something amazing about seeing Mikoto Shiratori announce tournament winners on a public stage!

It wasn't overly awesome, and definitely not well prepared, but it was still a cool moment. I'll edit and post when I'm free today.

I wouldn't say the video is too special - I didn't try to be in character or anything, and honestly my voice in general could've been better but I have an excuse for that one, but still it was a pretty cool moment to end the first day.

Anyway, the excuse I have for not having a good voice whatsoever is that I was actually feeling slightly sick at this point, then it hit me good and hard the next day. Yamato here had to fill in for me Saturday to watch the games, and I got the lovely experience of missing half the event I'd been waiting for...

That said, it was ultimately still positive in the end. Made another friend who's interested in getting involved in pinball work, brought smiles to faces around the county who stopped by for a classic arcade experience, and came home with a couple of cute posters from a local artist.

That's such a shame, I hope you feel better soon.

I think I'll be all good tomorrow or the next day. In hindsight, two back-to-back shows was probably asking a bit much!

Not sure if a pride event counts as a convention, but I just got back from a local-ish one. Got some cool souvenirs, had excellent fries, watched a local band perform, and generally had a great time.

We brought pinball for all, of course. One was my custom Undertale, which isn't designed to take quarters since it's an unlicensed fangame, but we had the other two set on fifty cents per play. Well, maybe for the first half hour or so, but the paid ones weren't getting played much. So I decided "screw it, I just wanna see people have fun" and set them all on free.

Had several early issues including forgetting a power strip and an entire cord, but all was ultimately well. We were pretty much granted the entire front quarter of the activities tent, and also laid out a table of pinball-themed pride flag badges and another table of free clothes.

Ended up chatting with a few people about the custom game projects and showing off art. They laughed pretty hard at the backbox setup warning jokes in my "TinkerBell girls playing pinball" drawing, so who knows, maybe someday those two individuals will fall down The Rabbit Hole.

That sounds really cool.
