Played around with the header a bit as well. Moved navigation into the top corner. Moved the quick search into as close to the top right as it wants to go without breaking the frickin layout... I'll have to come back to that. The buttons are all together now and stack at least a little more nicely on narrower screens.
It's all looking grand! I'm just waiting to see the more horizontal/centered view you were talking about. 
Do you still plan on making a subtle line per thread on the forum pages? That might still be the one thing that seems a bit off to me. I'm not sure, trying to put my finger on it haha.

Vertical layout is coming soon! I'm finally digging into site code, taking care of one thing at a time. I'll be adding the horizontal dividers for sure, that's a good idea that should make things come out a bit cleaner.
PROGRESS. I am slowly working towards a new method of 18+ confirmation. Instead of blocking off the entire site, it will present this notice at the top of the otherwise functional page:
The idea is it'll still allow guests to browse, but in order to register or view NSFW content, they must click the button. Spent a decent chunk of time on it tonight and a lot of this is already implemented. There is a whole $user_consent variable in the code now that allows us to block off any desired content to users that don't click the button. In the process of tweaking this for attachments, I fixed webp images not appearing in posts.
You know what else I found out? Guests have not been able to view ANY images for all this time. I never had the option enabled in the admin settings.... anyhow, that's now resolved, although they're effectively blocked from seeing explicit art unless they're either registered or click the consent button specifically in the beta theme. I will be removing the current content restriction plugin once this is all said and done, but first I need to block off the registration form to non-confirmed-18 guests and probably add some robots.txt entries to tell AI crawlers where to shove it now that the site will be more open.
Great updates. Seems ideal to me, still gating the NSFW content to an extent, they have to kind of opt in to see it with these buttons. But like we joked anyone ending up here probably knows what they'e getting into or searching, so if guests can see some of the images and all now maybe they'll be more enticed to join in.
AI crawlers are BAD bugs. Not approved.
