Ellie mentioned an Inyouchuu anime aimed at a more general audience when I shared a video about adult 80s movies that got turned into cartoon shows. The scary thing is that can happen.  I've been meaning to post this for a while.

They were both based on H games as well. I don't know much about the games. But while the series were both really rich and have a lot of great fan service with 
the story, I've heard the games were pretty shallow and sex driven. That's why I singled them out against the vast number of anime that are made from more sex games and turned into anime without the sex.

I seem to recall the Fate series had similar origins.

The original game did have sex scenes, but it was story first and the sex a very low priority. I was more talking about games that focused on the sex that got adapted into more complex narratives. Since Inyouchuu actually does have some pretty rich lore and characters I would be curious to see how they would adapt it.

Ahhh, gotcha. I'm not too familiar with Fate so I wasn't totally sure how that worked into it. It's honestly kind of amazing how detailed Inyouchuu's lore gets, so one way or another it definitely has further story potential.

I did indeed make that! Drawing tablet on Inkscape and a bit of bloom postprocessing with GIMP. I think it turned out nicely and could totally imagine seeing that at the end of an anime OP full of the Black Cats being lovable idiots.

Oh I know you made it, I love your sense of art. I'm just curious if you made it in response to my post or if you had that already and were saving it for a special occasion.

Yeah thats always interesting to see, i think the opposite can sometimes happen too where if you only watched the hentai adaptation of something you would think it doesn't have much story, but thats not always the case especially since a lot of anime are probably just a way to advertise the VN or whatnot, and since a lot of eroge tend to be a bit lengthy at least compared to one or two anime episode adaptations. actually while i haven't read it yet since its not in english, I watched a review for this VN thats supposedly really good and doesn't have much of a focus on the H stuff or at least it had a lot going for it outside of the H content according to the reviewer, and i would have never guessed that having watched the hentai animation adaptation of it long ago and not realising it was adapted from something else back then. I think it might have been called tropical kiss but i could be getting that title mixed up in my head with something else possibly. the OVAs probably just adapted the H-scenes since maybe they figured it would be hard to adapt the story with the limited amount of episodes(not to mention different routes) or they just see it more as some extra fanservice for fans of the eroge, which I think can be nice. in the case of the original VNs you mentioned being more focused on just H scenes, i would guess they would be Nukige then, of course obviously Nukige can still have interesting stories, characters, and themes, but they have more focus on H-scenes then your average eroge, and it just varies i guess from VN to VN

That's interesting that you bring up seeing the OVAs and not realizing until later that there's a more interesting story, because that's exactly what happened with me and Inyouchuu.

In the case of the H scenes being bad ends, I see it as similar to those mobile game ads where the player makes obvious mistakes, making you want to try it yourself and prove you can do better. It's like: "Here's one way they messed up - what would you have done?"

Also, cool to hear the Tropical Kiss mention, and that sounds about right. I haven't actually played it but I've seen some stuff on it.... and honestly I stole the name Hinata from that game in particular when naming the characters in my novel.
