I definitely prefer "alternate dimension where civilization evolved from dinosaurs" as the American explanation for the Mushroom Kingdom over the current movies just having a replica of the game setting (but both versions make the right call of having Mario and Luigi come from "our" world)

Also funny is how the lone city in 1990 SMB reminds me of City 17 from Half-Life 2 as well.
