The above quote probably won't look like much at present, but I have an idea for a better way of handling reply quoting that I think will look (and work) very nicely once implemented. I think I know how to do it, I just need to work on it when it's not 11 at night and I'm tired.

Yeah, I'll be adding that on those pages as well. Glad you like those stat names haha, I'll have to mess with that further in other places.

Trying to screw around with the quote code tonight, if the site randomly breaks for ten seconds you'll know why.

Struggled with it again last night. I think I'm struggling so much I might as well be stuck in the tentacle cave. Dealing with a bizarre issue where the new quote syntax successfully creates a nicely formatted quote block (visible to admins in the footer of this thread as per my debugging attempts) but somehow ultimately fails the regex replacement, thus instead erasing the entire text of the post. I tried checking for errors with the preg_replace_callback function - the name of which still makes me laugh in the context of this franchise - only to discover it isn't throwing any errors.

Anyway, this too shall be resolved in due time.

That was a freaking Nightmare, pun maybe intended, to figure out. The regex function was fine, it was working exactly as intended. Somehow my template was failing markup validation at the END of the parser. Which... I still need to look into exactly why that was happening, as well as potentially look into a lot of things I didn't know were getting dumped into the error log. Also, I figured out where the frickin error log is!

Major red herring with thinking it was the regex parser that was failing, but once I stopped to think about the fact that it wasn't throwing errors doing that, I dug further and fortunately figured it out. I kinda told myself if I didn't figure this out tonight then I'd put it on the back burner and move on, but luckily it was ultimately successful.

Edit: Anyway, if you point it at a post that doesn't exist, you get this instead:

This is a test post I deleted, so if you quote it, it tells you that but doesn't fully break.

Obviously I'm not a fan of shutting off what I assume to be something of a safety feature, but at least now I have a clear path to figure out what exactly was breaking it.

Of course, those of you browsing without the beta theme will probably see something a lot uglier there.

The syntax for the new quote blocks is > [id] The quote goes here which as always will get an easy add button. One thing to note about this is that the number is the post ID number, not the post number in the current thread. This could be slightly confusing, but it comes with a bonus that you could quote any post from any thread, and the ID link will take you there.

Forced vertical layout is now a thing.

It slots into the user settings under your profile page, "Edit Settings" in the left pane in user control panel. I will be adding more options later for rolling up sections you don't use, but for now there's at least some customization.

Also of note, I'm not sure all the rest of these settings are going to survive. For our context a few of them seem pointless. (No Quick Reply box?)

Nice! I thought this might center things into smaller windows (like blue-dark), or that's a separate idea? I'll rock this for a bit to see how it goes though.

Oh yeah, we can do that easily enough I think. Just assigning a maximum width on the extra iny-vertical.css file that I shoehorned into the code. What dimension would you prefer (% or pixel)?
