Site Layout Misadventures

Aaaand fixed. The fact that there's a Revert option right there in the admin controls is quite handy.
Also threw the flesh-cave background onto the main theme. I think I'm going to leave the normal theme as an available choice, regardless of what I do with the "official" look of the site. I would just use this one as a base for everything, but there's still the issue of it being terrible on phones (and I do use that sometimes).

That is indeed the option, yes.
Default is the stock theme, BootBB is the one I was playing with and having some technical issues with, and now CurvesUI is another one I picked up that might be worth toying with if it works well enough on a technical level. I'm already seeing that it does not drag any outside resources in (as per NoScript's page info) which is good.

Another nice thing about CurvesUI is that if you change the capitalization, it becomes CurveSui, and that makes total sense because Sui has nice curves.

Got it. They are pretty different. Only thing about the fleshy heavenly background, is the dark/red text gets lost in it now. And should it be full screen?

Maybe whenever you get it down there can be colored themes per girl haha.

Yeah, whatever theme I go with is going to need lots of tweaking to make sure all the text is visible with the color choices.

I guess there are a few possible options for the cave background, depending on what looks good. But I'm seriously liking your idea of having multiple themes with the different girls!

All right, if we're going to move forward on actual site design and custom features, I pretty much have to nail down a theme and stick with it. And I'll admit I went through a lot of them, finding tons of issues with convoluted causes and difficult solutions.

But I found one. It had no special name on the MyBB themes page. "Default theme with more contrast, mobile friendly #8 stable" was literally the title. And what I discovered upon downloading was it has NO EXTRA FILES. No images, no scripts, no links into who-knows-what outside resources, literally just a set of templates that override some default ones. So while the font sizes and element spacing are a bit different, it's otherwise very similar to the original design and layout, which I thought was fine and am happy to be keeping.

Does it have issues? Of course. For being mobile-friendly, it sticks with a pretty much bog-standard thread reply page, which on mobile is getting cut off and is basically unusable. BUT, I am starting to toy around with CSS and actually learn some useful stuff, and I'm feeling confident I'll be able to give a few individual sections the face-lift they'll need to work on all platforms.

Speaking of CSS... I played with horizontal layouts a bit. Created a design where if your browser window is wide enough, the front page chat window gets placed along the side for easy access to everything. Shrink the window, or view it on a phone, and the chat goes on the bottom instead. Now, granted, maybe top/left would be better placement. I don't know, it's probably worth discussing. Maybe I'll have moved it there by the time you read this.

For anyone wanting a trial run, this theme is currently called "blue-dark" and is selectable from the dropdown at the very bottom of the forum. Just bear in mind that since this is an active work in progress, it may break or change at any time until we consider it finalized.

I won't use mobile so can't test that, but this is what the main one still looks like for me. Not sure if it's right? lol

...Actually, judging by that picture, the background is going to break at higher resolutions than mine. I'll have to figure that out. [Edit: background-size: cover; seems to have fixed it on the beta theme]

Anyhow, the theme in your screenshot is the default one, so none of the new features. I think I figured out how to put the chat on top on smaller screens, so I'm going to tweak blue-dark a bit soon, but it's otherwise basically functional. Just needs improvements. Learning CSS might just drive me mad with power.

Don't remind me of work! Too stressful lately. XD

Maybe for the default theme take the background out? For now it's maybe a bit too red haha. But a good fleshy cave theme later on or cleaned up like blue-dark could be good.

Yeah, that's a fair assessment. I'll edit that back when I get to it tonight.
Definitely thinking that color choice based on the girls would be a good idea to work towards too.
