Mikoto Shiratori is the face of Inyouchuu itself and easily one of its most popular characters. She has vibrant red hair, deep blue eyes, and is typically shown with tiny blue stud earrings. She is generally bright and cheerful, though she has heavy tsundere tendencies and becomes more territorial as time goes on due to a romantic rivalry with Sui Kayama. Inyouchuu superfan EchelonV often describes her as being his wife.

Mikoto's given name is spelled 深琴, with 深 meaning "deep" or "profound" and 琴 referring to a koto or harp but alternately representing harmony or resonance. Her family name, Shiratori (白鳥), means "white bird" and is specifically the Japanese term for a swan and thus the implications of beauty and grace.

She is the leader of the Black Cat Demon-Hunting Agency, and is most commonly depicted in the organization's female uniform. It is primarily white, with an inner white long-sleeved button-up shirt and a white outer jacket that is black along the rear and sides and has three rectangular buckles across its front seam. Across her shoulders is a white cape, with gray trim running along to the back where it ends in loose tails tied in a bow. The front and back of the jacket, as well as the back of the cape, are split upwards in the center by a few inches.

The uniform also features a red tie, with its knot configured horizontally to separate its tails, and generally includes a pair of iconic white thighhigh stockings. A short-sleeved version of the uniform, with a somewhat more sailor-fuku-styled collar, is featured in Inyouchuu Shoku, likely due to the hotter summer environment depicted in that story.
