Since it's not inherently intuitive yet, I'll just put out a little guide on images here since you brought it up. The Quick Reply field is eventually going to become a fully featured message composer with formatting, attachments, and embeds, but for right now you'll need to use the full reply page to access those features. Just click the "New Reply" button at the bottom of the thread, and it'll take you to a page that allows image linking, as well as direct attachments. If you've already typed something into Quick Reply, just hit "Preview Post" and that will jump you over to that page as well.

Keep in mind that when you use the "Mark as NSFW" button on image attachments with sexual content, it will work once the post is sent, but nothing will visually change for you on the reply page. This is just another effect of me being a web-programming beginner, and as we move forward into a more stable and cohesive site skin, I will be updating that feature to work a little better.

That's very strange if it wasn't letting you upload them. Based on the admin settings, it should be allowing any of these formats (and max sizes):

Honestly I am not totally sure why every attachment format has a different maximum size. That was just the default that MyBB shipped with, less a few changes I made to allow bigger images. It'll get tweaked in the future.

Also, glad you had a laugh at the error message! There will be many more silly theme-relevant messages in the future.

Update: checked the test image, which was a jpg, and it's size was well under the minimum, so it wasn't that

Extra Update: Where relevant, a good one for uploading an incorrect file type would be "Th...That Doesn't Go There!"

I'll put it on my notes and check it out in detail when I have time to look at the source code. Do you get that issue with the images you linked earlier specifically?

How do you usually put images in posts here? It might be an alternative to what I'm used to doing.

Try it now with the original webp then! I just added that as an option, in the hopes it will display correctly in the browser. I see a lot of stuff download in that format now so we really ought to have support for it.
Now hopefully the site code knows to display it as an image...

[Edit] Aaaaand nope. The attachment works but it does not natively display, as per my test in the Misadventures thread. You can still upload stuff this way, it'll just be until I dig into the code before it'll get rendered as an image.
