Wrath of Khan was excellent as expected. Smile
The Motion Picture is still weird story wise, but I enjoyed it a lot more this time around knowing the characters well.

I did finish TOS. I liked S2 the most, and S3 was sadly pretty weak. Could tell the budget fell through, some good writers probably left, etc. The episode with the city in the sky was really good, and maybe another one or two.

Along the movies now though, I'm watching the 1973 Animated Series and really enjoying it. Kind of makes me wish TNG got an animated spinoff like this too. It's great that it's the original voices.

Trying to decide between seeing Resident Evil and Forgotten Island next week

Mostly because Forgotten Island is becoming a box office bomb, so it's got maybe 2 weeks before it effectively vanishes from theatres.

Strange about it failing, @MineRat saw it and thought it was great!

Sweet, you're going through Trek EchelonV? We have got to talk about it some time. Season 3 of TOS fell apart because series almost csanceled after season 2. Then when they resurrected it for one more Gene Roddenberry wanted the 8 PM time slot and threatened to quit if didn't get it. The network called his bluff and he quit. This put a new producer in charge and meant production got a late start. That's why we got "And the Children Shall Lead Us" (the producer picked a script that could put his kid and his best friend in it) and "Spock's Brain" (pick a script any script production should have started 2 weeks ago)!

I kind of liked Spock's Brain LOL. But yeah the classic time slot issue back then, guess it makes sense.

I'm going through the movies now and liking them overall. Some ups and downs, but I think I've seen far worse Trek movies already (Nemesis comes to mind, ugh).

Spock's Brain is fun. I figure our server would enjoy the "givers of pain and delight". Plus Lenard Nimoy loved the ep because he didn't have to do much but still got paid full wages. I liked Nemesis when it was new. But I can't help but wonder how it holds up.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979)*
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982)
Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984)
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986)
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989)
Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991)

I bold my favorites of the movies. VI was amazing! And IV was hilarious. I didn't mind that it was goofier, knowing it wasn't the last TOS movie, but yeah. Might have caught some people off guard then haha.

I'm now almost done with Voyager S2... so I'm chugging along with my Star Trek journey. Voyager has been pretty easy to watch. I'd say by mid S2, the cast has started to grow on me. I don't see it beating TNG or DS9 at all, but yeah I'm still liking it overall. Maybe I'll go for Enterprise after this. I don't really have plans to watch anything in the Kurtzman era after. lol

Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979)*

A fellow Star Trek VI fan! I didn't know people had a problem with the film's humor though, Trek (in my opinion) has always been sort of goofy. I remember an episode of TOS where Spock says that Kirk would "make a very convincing nazi" and Kirk's reaction felt like it needed some "wah wah wah" sound...

I loved Undiscovered Country as a finale to the TOS era, its social commentary was on point, looked great, and had a good amount of speeches and action! A yummy Star Trek salad!

I've been putting off DS9 season 2, but recently I've been interested in checking out Battlestar Galactica after browsing my Paramount recommended.

Final post before I go back to being mia (midterms are awful): I finally watched The Terminator! It really does look incredible for a movie released in 1984, I loved seeing the desolate future in the beginning, though it didn't look as impressive in later flashbacks. Arnold's poor English translates well to an emotionless machine and the makeup looks amazing, despite the upscaling "exposing" the illusion.

I'm afraid that I didn't like it as much as I thought it would, and the reason being Terminator 2! When I was a kid, my father sat me down one night and put on Terminator 2 (and the RoboCop remake but lets not get into that) and it was awesome! I think that may have shot my expectations too high for the original, but it is in no way a bad movie. I plan on rewatching Terminator 2 soon, perhaps watching it back to back with 3, which I hear is bad. Oh well :/

I'm more in T1's camp actually, it's weirder synth score, lower budget, basically a sci-fi slasher... it's more raw in an awesome way to me. Evil Arnold! T2 is good, but kid John is pretty annoying on rewatches haha. The series went downhill after that to me. Though I like the Sarah Connor Chronicles series (got cancelled when it was really getting good though), and some games. Maybe your T2 rewatch will let you see the charms in T1 in comparison haha. But yeah both are amazing and different. Like Alien vs Aliens.

I finally tried watching Battlestar Galactica last year and did not get the hype at all. I gave up on S2 or around there when it was just increasingly frustrating. Didn't really like the characters and contrast to Star Trek, it's a lot more pessimistic (ie humans betraying and hating each other). I dunno. was a major let down. The miniseries and some of S1 seemed promising, but it just dragged.

DS9 hits a stride eventually and doesn't let up.

Voyager S3 has been kind of weak... feels very status quo. But I'm close to the Seven season!
