New Doom DLC is pretty good. I think Dark Ages is great.

I've been avoiding purchases of Microsoft games on account of the boycott on them for helping Israel, but with the latest cullings of jobs through their studios, I've considered making an exception for Avowed and Doom: The Dark Ages when they go on sale next time, since now they're effectively the last games those studios made while they were still relatively un-gutted and involving most of the more veteran members of their staffs.

Also, I was wondering before I start Omori if there's anything I should know about multiple possible endings, mainly if they're things you get locked into by fulfilling their requirements or if they're more like choices you gain access to.

You know, it really really sucks how difficult it is to support good people sometimes. Like your example here where the parent company can't bother to respect human rights, but is also employing perfectly good individuals who get screwed in their own way. I totally hear you there.

I just gotta say I'm incredibly excited that I influenced someone to try that game out, and a fellow fanfic writer too. Really hope you enjoy it - if so, it'll make my current fic that much more fun if you get around to reading that when I release it.

Anyway, there are definitely multiple endings... in fact, there are two entire separate routes with vastly different outcomes. For the most part, the routes/endings actually work a lot like they do in Inyouchuu, with specific moments of "Do you want to X?" being the trigger in one direction or the other. For the most part, you just find your way through the story that's laid out, but there is one small bonus you get by just doing a certain thing right throughout the game.

I have to say that getting the good end first made the game's sequence pretty much unforgettably great for me personally, though I guess some people have done the alternate route or bad ends first and enjoyed that in their own way. I can give spoiler-free tips on what to consider when working towards the good end, but I'll leave that for if you request it.

With how much we've been talking about OMORI for the last couple pages, maybe I should just make a dedicated thread for it!

I wouldn't give too much credit to me as a fanfic writer, seeing as how I've not actually posted anything yet. Ideas are one thing, actually giving them form is something else.

I guess I can ask now if the good/bad branches are fairly self-evident

Even so, we met you on AO3. That's gotta count for something!

I guess they are self-evident. In a way, the major choice prompts like to blend in with other yes/no options that are just there to give you a chance to do other things before a major event, but as long as you approach it in a similar way, I think you'll get where you want to be. Basically just think of the good route branches as facing reality and the bad ones as hiding from it, and consider that when given a yes/no prompt.

To help avoid getting confused and overthinking, I will also note that no major route branches occur in the part of the game that's more purple and pastel.

I definitely hate MS. The Activision purchase did nothing good for the industry. Hardware wise I've been done with them since the 360 days and feel like I've missed out on nothing. But yeah now they're laying off more people by the hundreds. It's a bad time for videogame development.
