Now that's a love letter to Inyouchuu if I ever heard one! So glad you and the others here are finding it comfortable so far.
Your tidbit about being bothered by tentacles and seeing them as demonic is very interesting. I had a similar struggle between hentai-related desires and what I believed was morally wrong for quite a while, before I finally put fantasy into perspective and embraced what I liked.

Yeah, to date myself further, 90's and earlier 2000's hentai was usually more horror leaning. Was rare to really see animated sex scenes last that long. La Blue Girl has some funny moments, but that, Twin Angels/Dolls, Angel of Darkness, Inma Seiden, etc all had this "darker" vibe to it that was maybe extra intoxicating and scary diving into porn at a young age haha. But I indeed just kept returning to it and embracing it.

Might by why I love the real evil looking tentacles, or designs with eyeballs in them and such. That was kind of common from that era.

That biological horror element goes hand in hand with the concept of hentai, for sure. I honestly wonder what piece of media pioneered the flesh/tentacle cave. Part of me wants to think Inyouchuu invented it, but surely that idea existed before 2005.

That's such a good question, that I need answers to now.

I remember Angel of Darkness specifically having some evil scientist and a plant tentacle in one episode. La Blue Girl kind of had these ideas too. But I'm not sure if they leaned into it as much as Inyouchuu.

There was some stuff piror to Inyouchuu I was really in, by artist Sumi Sumi and studio Touchable. This tentacle heavy game does predate Inyouchuu 1 by just a few months actually:

From then on the handful of tentacle games Touchable did always had these kind of environments with lots of cool and detailed tentacles. Some "vore" like elements too (I wager some vore goes into the birth of this setting/theme too since it's somewhat adjacent).

Maybe that's it and some other games out there...

That's a good point about tentacle caves being vore-adjacent, since arguably they are alive with organic material. Some time ago I asked an IRL friend (who likes vore) about whether they'd categorize "giant flesh cave" as a form of vore, and their answer was basically "Maybe...?"

Hello, I go by coveredLoki sometimes. I discovered Inyouchuu because Ellie shared it with me and I ended up becoming interested the lore. I really want to learn more about the characters but sadly some of the good lore is in Japanese rn and I cannot read that. Hopefully at some point there will be more translated content. That aside, the characters are all pretty cool and somehow Ellie talked me into doing a cosplay together. Her as Mikoto and I as Yamato. Funnily enough, our hair is still dyed those colors right now as I type. I never thought something of this sort would become such a big interest for me but here I am! I even ended up drawing some artwork (one which I still need to finish) and I made a perler sprite of Mikoto too. Ellie designed that one for me! Jokes about this stuff even somehow work their way into our daily life, the music as well! We listen to it on the way to go shopping. What an odd choice but it sure is catchy. I am glad to be a part of this and I am so proud of how much Ellie was able to do! I hope that everyone will enjoy this new community! uwu
