Haha. Probably what I have downloaded, some BD looking clean versions. Looks fantastic. I don't mind seeing the faults of old stuff like this, usually.

There's definitely something charming about the real human component of how those old shows came to be.

That's the spirit. I love that sentiment too,. I apply to not just Star Trek, but Doctor Who and Power Rangers/henshin hero in general.

Haha yeah. That's why older Toku is so fun, with all the practical effects and real explosions, lmao.

What's everyone's thoughts on Train to Busan? I rewatched it for a film class last week and it was good, just a bit generic in parts.

Just saw Escape from New York and it was pretty bland, incredible cast and crew, but the overall film just wasn't entertaining. I feel like I was baited by the poster and premise, feels like a million other generic eighties movies.

Might catch a showing of tmnt if I'm not tired after work. I remember recording it when I was a kid lol

aw darn. i might still check it out simply cause it inspired Kojima with Snakes character being heavily inspired by the main character in it right? but thats disapointing to know, guess ill keep my expectations low. i think it has a sequel too? escape from LA? anyways you guys are making me want to watch more old movies! i actually haven't watched too many classics so theres a lot i still have to catch up on. has anyone here seen the alvin and the chipmunks adventure movie? I used to watch it all the time as a kid, had it on VHS, its got some pretty good animation in it, fun movie.

Escape from LA is pretty bad. I like New York, but yeah some of John Carpenter's movies can be slow. Yeah it's got Kurt Russell as "Pliskin", his look and name is what inspired Kojima a bit.

The Chipmunk's were such a cool thing in my youth haha. That and like mouse characters in general. An American Tail: Fievel Goes West, The Secret of NIMN, Great Mouse Detective, etc haha.

I used to play Chipmunks music at my old mall job lol. Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 was also the movie that was playing during my first black out, we have a troubled relationship.

Speaking of old movies, I recently watched War of the Worlds (1953) and that was enjoyable. Pretty good adaptation of the original novel except for the ending.

Damn, it's been a while since I checked this out. I saw Escape from New York a while ago but I don't remember it outside of not enjoying. I used to watch the Chipmunk Adventure of the Disney channel whenever they played it. I really doubt it holds up, but I do like the nostalgia and how ridiculous it is. I also have really fond memories of Great Mouse Detective and Fivel Goes' West. I actually rewatched Fivel about a year ago to prep for meeting John Cleese at convention.

I need to see the 1953 War of the Worlds. I've only seen Independence Day, which is still a great movie, the Spielberg Tom Cruise version (which I hated but I don't blame anyone who likes it), and the Ice-T Amazon Prime movie. It is glorious and I love every minute of it. I'm sucker for bad movies when they can still make me laugh.

Amazon War of the Worlds is great for a watch party. Saw it with some friends during vacation and there was always something to laugh at.
