Well starting off with what looks like sour news to me, JAST (probably Blood?) tweeted out today that they need to get Inyochu's numbers up:
https://x.com/jastusa/status/2051512985055862975

So I'm guessing it maybe sold good, I know he was surprised in the Discord, initially. But it's maybe tapered off now...

I've had it plugged as my X site ever since it released lol.

We can gift people JAST purchases now and I will probably definitely do so sometime. But that skews the data a bit too if it's just a few of us buying it...

So yeah, wish they had better marketing and us more connections. I'm not sure if that one YouTuber did it any help, who kind of just made fun of the game.

And unfortunately my recent rekindling of one single person's interest in the game isn't going to help much either. I still want to do a better video (shorter with more story) but I don't exactly have much audience either. I wish we knew where all these fans are who bought it - surely with how well it sold, there were plenty of people that enjoyed the game, as niche as it may be.

It'd be nice if they joined us to share their thoughts here, but we didn't get too many bites with the initial announcements. But then, the forum was still pretty primitive at the time (and is still awaiting what is shaping up to be an amazing facelift), so maybe the amateur-ish-ness of it kept a few people away.

I think even in JAST's case it'd be good if they had more than just a Discord server for communication. Now I do watch them as a hawk, they'll have my loyalty for life for bringing us Shin... but they could also market the game more. They're always plugging the other stuff, but I guess they sell more.

Sadly nothing new as a hentai fan in America... it's a tough life. Sleepy

It's crazy to me that their Discord is the only community they have for it. I realize they have a dedicated channel for it, but still, half the time it's dead over there.

(Suddenly realizes four of the regular posters in that channel jumped ship for Inyouchuuverse...)

Yep. It took Inyouchuu for me to join it of course haha.

And I think you make a good point, just how old school forums and stuff are in general, what even was the last unified Inyouchuu fanclub? My Hongfire and Anime-Sharing threads to some extent I guess, but it's a bummer there wasn't a home and some places go down, etc, so we have some lost fans out there I think. Basically yeah, I think maybe now that Inyouchuuverse is up, it might help future Tinker Bell releases, marketing, activity etc.

I'll never stop believing! Inyouchuu is FOREVER!  Big Grin

If we do end up being the cause of more official stuff, that would be freaking amazing!

I need to draw more fanart with links back here, too. Seems like it might pull a few people in our direction.

ah by that one reviewer im guessing you mean Sydsnap? the way i see it, any publicity is good publicity, id imagine her review did help move some sales, i mean i get what you mean about it seeming more like making fun of the game but i think thats just her bit where it seems like she reviews stuff thats really disturbing like gore screaming show or euphoria etc. and then exaggerates her reactions to it a lot (but clearly if she keeps playing/reviewing them... she must like them right?) and i think its the same for the audience that watches her reviews on visual novels like that, they must have some level of interest in said VNs to click on her reviews in the first place! so while maybe her reviews might come across as a bit cringe or dishonest, i think that ultimately they probably bring more sales then not(since its way more attention then the game would ever get otherwise, not to mention JAST must think so too since im pretty sure they were all reviews where the copy of the game for the review was provided by JAST, or mangagamer depending on the game being reviewed) but yeah i think her reviews are supposed to be a bit silly but she seems to find VNs like that interesting clearly(otherwise how would she get through them?) well thats how i see it at least, its funny cause i remember seeing her reviews for gore screaming show and euphoria back when Inyouchuu first came out in english and I was hoping she would review Inyouchuu at some point, glad it eventually happened cause at least the way i see it, it likely does help with sales at least a little bit.

guess its hard to say how much it helped though. i think its more that only having one youtuber review it really isn't enough. so having more reviews would probably help more although if its a really niche/small channel its hard to say how much it would help. as for marketing, overall i agree though, ideally they could do more to push the game, just not sure how or what that would look like. its always gonna be a pretty niche series i think(as a shmup fan im more or less fine with that though) so i guess the question is if they can keep the time/cost of localization low enough to justify releasing more of them with lower sales numbers then some of their more popular VNs. hopefully it at least sold enough for another inyouchuu VN to get released in english by them someday. ive heard really good things about gore screaming show so thats another horror VN i really want to read sometime!

as for the sales numbers, im curious if he just means that Inyouchuu would have to sell more to bring over that black cyclone game the guy was mentioning, could the sales still be good enough to get another inyouchuu game at least? but then again one would think that would apply to inyouchuu too(unless maybe if they already have been working on another one currently and its coming out soon... i wish.) since we got the first one around halloween, i imagine the best chance of news on any future inyouchuu english releases would be around october too.

I never joined the discussions over there, there could be other people like me that just silently lurk in the discord and maybe some of them just didn't want to go through the effort of signing up. I think in general lots of people who like stuff will enjoy the thing without necessarily wanting to discuss it and whatnot. and i mean, thats fine i guess. im sure we will get more members eventually! I kinda wish we could get that Konami guy from the discord to join, cause then I could have someone to discuss my super niche/weird fetish with XD(could share recommendations for VNs or doujins etc that actually have it, which are kinda hard to find honestly)

Yeah, her review was probably a net positive overall. I guess as a YT viewer I just didn't think much of her review in the end, I was kind of hoping for a bit of a "lesson" talk in the end highlighting the good merits and stuff, but to me it was almost like she didn't even roll credits. Hard to tell if she legit enjoyed this one or not from what I could tell.

Hanamaru 2 will hopefully bolster their chances with more Tinker Bell. Maybe they can do a dual sale with those here and there. And perhaps that one could appeal to more people, even though it's got Inyouchuu level H scenes, it's goofier more all around.

Yeah that's my experience with most of Discord haha. Every channel has like hundreds or thousands of members, with only 1% actually engaging, if even. There are only a few of us chatting in the Inyouchuu channel, but there are probably other fans just lurking. Wish they'd join up here, if they felt more comfortable with this format. It would be cool if Konami joined. I think I'll try to mention the board again sometime on my X. Doing what I can as the Inyouchuu Room guy... lol

I guess one way of looking at it is with the comments saying "That's so disgusting! Uh, how can I get it?" It's possible she meant to play up the graphicness of it to very clearly warn potential players that "it's good but it's extreme"... but yeah, if even the ending was disappointing, maybe it really was a case of not liking it much. I'll admit I didn't see the whole video, kinda tuned out halfway through due to that certain nervousness of hearing non-Inyouchuu fans talk about the series. You probably get it.

We should put out some more notices (maybe a screenshot or two) once we have something really functional. I've been picking away at the WIP forum theme and it's kinda looking awesome as of five minutes ago. Maybe once that and more wiki info/code is nailed down, that'd be a good time to announce the site again?

Your audience reach is very much appreciated!

Yep, I'd rather see people celebrate and get into the series. Which I'm sure she did help some sales, but yeah... hearing some non-experts speak on it. lol
Agreed though that uh yeah... in the end, warnings about its content and what this series is is very warranted haha. I still crack up at old posts I've seen over the years on the internet, about people loving Aojiru's girls and style, but they can't handle any of the explicit content.

I like that idea! No pressure for whenever it happens. I don't know if I have much reach overall, or it's kind of like Discord with a lot of X lurkers who don't want to venture out much.
