So I'm guessing it maybe sold good, I know he was surprised in the Discord, initially. But it's maybe tapered off now...
I've had it plugged as my X site ever since it released lol.
We can gift people JAST purchases now and I will probably definitely do so sometime. But that skews the data a bit too if it's just a few of us buying it...
So yeah, wish they had better marketing and us more connections. I'm not sure if that one YouTuber did it any help, who kind of just made fun of the game.
ah by that one reviewer im guessing you mean Sydsnap? the way i see it, any publicity is good publicity, id imagine her review did help move some sales, i mean i get what you mean about it seeming more like making fun of the game but i think thats just her bit where it seems like she reviews stuff thats really disturbing like gore screaming show or euphoria etc. and then exaggerates her reactions to it a lot (but clearly if she keeps playing/reviewing them... she must like them right?) and i think its the same for the audience that watches her reviews on visual novels like that, they must have some level of interest in said VNs to click on her reviews in the first place! so while maybe her reviews might come across as a bit cringe or dishonest, i think that ultimately they probably bring more sales then not(since its way more attention then the game would ever get otherwise, not to mention JAST must think so too since im pretty sure they were all reviews where the copy of the game for the review was provided by JAST, or mangagamer depending on the game being reviewed) but yeah i think her reviews are supposed to be a bit silly but she seems to find VNs like that interesting clearly(otherwise how would she get through them?) well thats how i see it at least, its funny cause i remember seeing her reviews for gore screaming show and euphoria back when Inyouchuu first came out in english and I was hoping she would review Inyouchuu at some point, glad it eventually happened cause at least the way i see it, it likely does help with sales at least a little bit.
guess its hard to say how much it helped though. i think its more that only having one youtuber review it really isn't enough. so having more reviews would probably help more although if its a really niche/small channel its hard to say how much it would help. as for marketing, overall i agree though, ideally they could do more to push the game, just not sure how or what that would look like. its always gonna be a pretty niche series i think(as a shmup fan im more or less fine with that though) so i guess the question is if they can keep the time/cost of localization low enough to justify releasing more of them with lower sales numbers then some of their more popular VNs. hopefully it at least sold enough for another inyouchuu VN to get released in english by them someday. ive heard really good things about gore screaming show so thats another horror VN i really want to read sometime!
as for the sales numbers, im curious if he just means that Inyouchuu would have to sell more to bring over that black cyclone game the guy was mentioning, could the sales still be good enough to get another inyouchuu game at least? but then again one would think that would apply to inyouchuu too(unless maybe if they already have been working on another one currently and its coming out soon... i wish.) since we got the first one around halloween, i imagine the best chance of news on any future inyouchuu english releases would be around october too.

(Suddenly realizes four of the regular posters in that channel jumped ship for Inyouchuuverse...)
I never joined the discussions over there, there could be other people like me that just silently lurk in the discord and maybe some of them just didn't want to go through the effort of signing up. I think in general lots of people who like stuff will enjoy the thing without necessarily wanting to discuss it and whatnot. and i mean, thats fine i guess. im sure we will get more members eventually! I kinda wish we could get that Konami guy from the discord to join, cause then I could have someone to discuss my super niche/weird fetish with XD(could share recommendations for VNs or doujins etc that actually have it, which are kinda hard to find honestly)
